Jones Foster Attorney Richard C. Vaughan Appointed to Planned Giving Council Board of Directors

Jones Foster, a commercial and private client law firm with offices in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, and Jupiter, Florida, is pleased to announce that private wealth and tax attorney Richard C. Vaughan has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Planned Giving Council of Palm Beach County.

As an experienced estate planning attorney who regularly counsels clients on charitable giving strategies, Mr. Vaughan is uniquely positioned to support the Council's mission of promoting education, collaboration, and best practices in charitable planning. In his role as a board member, he will help further the organization's efforts through networking opportunities and monthly meetings featuring prominent speakers who have a role in designing and implementing philanthropic plans. The Board represents a broad range of disciplines and serves as a community resource for the development, marketing, and administration of philanthropic planning initiatives throughout Palm Beach County.

Mr. Vaughan holds leadership roles in several other industry organizations focused on legacy planning and philanthropy, including the Philanthropy Advisory Council (PAC) of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties and the Palm Beach County Estate Planning Council Board of Directors. He is a frequent speaker on topics such as trust centered-estate planning, Florida’s foreign donor ban, and tax law developments impacting charitable giving.

Affiliated with the national Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, the Planned Giving Council of Palm Beach County brings together nonprofit executives, estate planning attorneys, tax advisors, accountants, trust officers, financial advisors, and philanthropic consultants who share a commitment to advancing charitable giving. The Council provides a forum for professionals to stay informed about emerging philanthropic trends and strategies that benefit donors, clients, and charitable organizations.

Richard Vaughan is a member of Jones Foster’s Private Wealth, Wills, Trusts & Estates and Corporate & Tax teams and concentrates his practice in estate planning, trust and estate administration, business planning, and transactional corporate law. He develops comprehensive estate plans for individuals and families to efficiently preserve their assets, including the use of revocable and irrevocable trusts, and handles all aspects of estate and trust administration from probate matters to estate and gift tax return preparation. He also assists clients with structuring and maintaining tax exempt organizations.

Mr. Vaughan is experienced in creating and maintaining corporate structures within the context of a client’s estate plan, including drafting operating agreements, buy-sell agreements, entity restructuring, and related agreements among shareholders and partners. He provides personalized solutions to meet his clients’ business succession goals.

Mr. Vaughan was one of three attorneys selected to participate in The Florida Bar Tax Section’s prestigious Fellowship Program, a three-year leadership initiative designed to encourage active participation and long-term engagement in section work. He graduated from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and went on to earn his Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Estate Planning from the Heckerling Graduate Program at the University of Miami School of Law. He also holds an MBA from the University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business and Economics.
