Jones Foster is pleased to announce that several attorneys have been appointed or reappointed by Florida Bar President Roland Sanchez-Medina, Jr. to serve on standing committees for the 2024-2025 term effective July 1.
Shareholder Zachary M. Rothman has been newly appointed to serve a three-year term on the Civil Procedure Rules Committee, which was established by The Florida Bar to consider proposals for changes to the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure. Zack also was reappointed to the Probate Rules Committee, and will continue his service on the Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation Committee and the Undue Influence Codification Subcommittee.
Shareholder Joanne M. O’Connor has been reappointed as vice chair of the Federal Court Practice Committee, which acts as the Bar’s liaison to the federal courts, federal bar organizations in Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Judicial Conference. In addition, it notifies Bar members of proposed changes to federal rules, including local rules for Florida federal courts. In her role as vice chair, Joanne serves as co-chair of the Federal Judicial Roundtable and Reception at the annual Florida Bar Convention.
Shareholder Robert W. Wilkins will continue serving on the newly established Cybersecurity and Privacy Law Committee, which works to facilitate lawyer awareness of cyber risks; develops cybersecurity best practices; provides lawyers with continuously updated resources about cybersecurity law and regulations; and provides news and educational seminars.
Shareholder Roberto M. Vargas and H. Adams Weaver, of counsel, will continue their service on the Eminent Domain Committee, which seeks to study and stay informed about recent developments in the field of condemnation of private property for public use by governmental agencies or private companies that have the power of eminent domain. Adams is a former chair of the committee.
Shareholder Travis J. Foels will continue serving on The Florida Bar Journal/News Editorial Board to advise and assist the editorial staff. The board works closely with the Journal and News staff to develop articles of interest and concern to the legal profession and, as a reviewing board, selects for publication only the worthiest manuscripts.
Genny Bernstein, senior counsel, was reappointed chair of the Publications Committee for the Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar. In her role as chair, Genny will continue to serve as editor of The Advocate, The Florida Bar Elder Law Section’s newsletter. The Elder Law Section cultivates and promotes professionalism, expertise, and knowledge in the practice of law affecting people as they age and individuals with special needs.
Kevin T. Lamb, senior counsel, continues to serve on The Florida Bar’s Senior Lawyers Committee, which works to serve the needs and interests of the legal profession by fostering an interchange of ideas, sharing the accumulated knowledge and experience of its members, and addressing issues of significance to senior lawyers.
