Jones Foster is pleased to announce that Private Wealth and Tax Shareholder William G. Smith has been elected President of the Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation for a third term, extending his service to 2024.
Bill was first elected Foundation President in 2021 after serving as President of the Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach. He is currently Chair of the Foundation’s Class Scholarship Committee and a Board Member and served as its Vice President from 2019-2020.
The Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation is committed to academic excellence and offers one of the largest scholarship programs in Florida, awarding approximately $275,000 in 2022. Scholarship grants are given to deserving students on a need basis following an extensive screening process with award recipients attending colleges and universities throughout the country.
Bill concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, transactional corporate law, and taxation, which includes advanced transfer tax planning. He works with individual clients and families to create a customized plan for the current or future transfer of assets to minimize federal gift taxes, estate taxes, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxes. He also provides counsel to businesses, private foundations, and charities in matters that include business succession planning, transfers of business interests, LLC and S corporation creation, governance documents, mergers, and Treasury Regulation compliance.
Bill is actively involved in several community and industry organizations. He serves as The Florida Bar Tax Section’s Assistant Director, Education and member of the Legislative & Regulations Committee. Bill is a member of the Planning Giving Council of Palm Beach County, a Session Member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach, and a past president of the East Coast Estate Planning Council.
