Jones Foster is proud to announce that Shareholder William G. Smith has been elected president of The Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation for the 2021 term.
The Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation, Inc. is committed to academic excellence and offers one of the largest scholarship programs in Florida. In 2020 alone, the Foundation awarded $295,000 in scholarships to 78 undergraduate and graduate students with connections to central Palm Beach County. Scholarship grants are given to deserving students on a need basis following an extensive screening process. Currently, the award recipients are attending 25 different colleges and universities throughout the country.
Bill Smith is a member of the Private Wealth, Trusts & Estates and Corporate & Tax teams and concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, transactional corporate law, and taxation, which includes advanced transfer tax planning. Bill works with individual clients and families to create a customized plan for the current or future transfer of assets to minimize federal gift taxes, estate taxes, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxes. He also provides counsel to businesses, private foundations, and charities in matters that include business succession planning, transfers of business interests, LLC and S corporation creation, governance documents, mergers, and Treasury Regulation compliance.
Bill serves in leadership roles in several community and industry organizations. He serves as president of the East Coast Estate Planning Council, was recently elected to serve a 3-year term on the Session of Memorial Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach, and is a member of The Planned Giving Council of Palm Beach County. He is also a past president of The Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach.
