Palm Beach Mayor Moore Recognizes Jones Foster with Proclamation

Palm Beach Mayor Danielle Moore presented Jones Foster, a private and commercial law firm, with a proclamation declaring January 2024 as a celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Jones Foster. The ceremony took place at the Jan. 9 meeting of the Town Council where Chairman Larry B. Alexander accepted the honor on behalf of the firm.

Mr. Alexander reflected on the honor stating, “I am grateful to Mayor Moore and the Town Council for this recognition, which I accept on behalf of all Jones Foster attorneys and staff, past and present. Our attorneys have enjoyed deep ties to the Town over many decades, and the firm’s relationship has only grown stronger over time. The history, character, and influence of Palm Beach are without equal and we are proud to be entrusted as legal counselors to the Town for the past 36 years, as well as to individuals and businesses that call Palm Beach home.”

A Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate attorney and longtime resident, Mr. Alexander has been deeply involved with the Town of Palm Beach throughout his 52-year legal career at Jones Foster, representing clients in complex real estate transactions. He has served the community through his leadership roles in local foundations, including the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation and the William H. Pitt Foundation, educational institutions, charitable organizations, and trusts.

In addition, Shareholder John C. “Skip” Randolph served in the role of Town Attorney for the past 44 years; 36 of those years as a shareholder at Jones Foster. Mr. Randolph was also presented with a Proclamation at the Town Council meeting, during which Town Council President Pro Tem Barbara Lindsay stated, “You and Jones Foster have had a long history with this Town and very productive times with us. We’ve been extraordinarily well-represented in all aspects of Town business because of you and your firm, and I just don’t know how else to thank you.”

Late Shareholder Margaret “Margie” Cooper often worked with Mr. Randolph on legal matters and was considered a “powerful advocate” for the Town. Shareholder Joanne M. O’Connor has represented the Town over the past two decades in litigation matters that often involve complex land use, real estate, zoning, and constitutional issues, and succeeded Mr. Randolph as Town Attorney on Jan. 1 following his December 2023 retirement from the position.

In 2014, Jones Foster opened an office on Royal Palm Way. The office is headed by Shareholder L. Benton “Ben” Alexander, Jr., a Board Certified Real Estate Attorney and longtime Palm Beach resident who is an active member of the community, serving in leadership roles with local educational institutions, charitable organizations, and religious organizations.

Over the past century, the firm’s attorneys have and continue to serve as leaders in various organizations founded in the Town, including Palm Beach Day Academy, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, the Royal Poinciana Chapel, the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians and Jews, the Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults, the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Palm Beach Civic Association to support local advocacy in the community and improve the quality of life for its residents.
