Jones Foster is pleased to announce that Vice Chair and Litigation Shareholder Scott G. Hawkins was appointed chair of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County’s Political Action Committee (EC-PAC).
As chair of the EC-PAC, Scott presides at meetings of the Board of Trustees and members’ meetings of the committee. The Political Action Committee was formed to promote sound and stable economic growth and to help businesses prosper in Palm Beach County, according to the Economic Council.
Scott’s new position adds to the leadership roles he currently holds with the Council, including the Board of Directors, of which he has been a member since 2017, and the Executive Committee, which he has served on since 2019. In addition, Scott is a past chair of the Governance Committee and Policy Committee.
The Economic Council of Palm Beach County is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that supports an open and collaborative relationship between the public and private sectors in Palm Beach County. Membership of the Council includes a diverse mix of industries of varying sizes in the area whose leaders have an active and influential role in the community.
Scott is a nationally recognized litigation attorney and a past president of The Florida Bar. As a Florida Bar Board Certified Business Litigation specialist, he represents public and private companies in a variety of industries, including technology, medical, environmental, real estate, land use, insurance, and military. Scott focuses his practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property, trade secret disputes, trademark infringement, covenants not to compete, securities, real estate litigation, and claims arising under ERISA Plans. Additionally, he regularly serves as an attorney’s fees counsel and expert witness and has been appointed by the courts as a receiver, trustee, statutory investigator (corporate derivative disputes), mediator, and special master given his experience, ethics, and judgment.
