About Stephen
Jones Foster Shareholder Stephen C. Richman is a member of the firm’s Complex Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Trust & Estate Litigation practices groups. He represents businesses and individuals in commercial disputes, probate and fiduciary litigation, and class actions, among other general civil litigation. Stephen approaches his engagements as both counselor and advocate, with the goal of helping his clients achieve an efficient and favorable outcome while zealously representing their interests.
Stephen has defended clients in state and federal courts throughout Florida, as well as in arbitration. He has substantial experience representing lawyers and law firms in complex legal malpractice and breach of fiduciary duty claims, including claims brought by federal equity receivers and putative investor classes arising from SEC and other government enforcement actions.
In addition, Stephen prosecutes and defends individuals in complex trust and estate litigation involving allegations of undue influence, lack of capacity, and tortious interference with an expectancy.
Stephen has further defended businesses in class action litigation under consumer protection statutes, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Florida’s Telephone Solicitation Act (FTSA), and Florida’s Consumer Collection Practices Act (FCCPA), as well as common-law claims arising out of an alleged data breach.
On behalf of the Firm, Stephen serves as Professional Responsibility Shareholder.
Stephen is a member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, The Florida Bar's Real Property, Probate & Trust Law (RPPTL) Section and Trial Lawyers Section, and is actively involved in the community. He serves on the Board of Governors for the Historical Society of Palm Beach County and on the Finance Committee of Rosarian Academy. He has been recognized by peer-reviewed industry publications, including Florida Super Lawyers as a Rising Star and Palm Beach Illustrated’s "Top Lawyers" list for Legal Malpractice Law.
While earning his Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School, Stephen served as a judicial intern to the Honorable John S. Bryant of U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and the Honorable Sam A. Lindsay of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
