Lucia E. DeFilippo is a member of Jones Foster’s Trust and Estate Litigation team and focuses her practice in the areas of probate litigation and trust litigation.
Lucia graduated summa cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, where she was the recipient of nine CALI Book Awards as well as several scholarships, including the Broward County Hispanic Bar Association Minority Women Leaders Scholarship, Kozyak Minority Mentorship Foundation Fellowship, and Sookie Williams Memorial Scholarship. While attending law school, Lucia published two peer-reviewed articles and was a member of the Nova Law Review and Moot Court Honor Society.
During her studies, Lucia gained valuable experience as a judicial intern for the Honorable Darrin P. Gayles of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. She also interned with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida, and for the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit as a Certified Legal Intern.
Prior to joining the firm, Lucia was an Assistant State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit in Fort Myers where she tried 33 jury trials.
