Hawkins has been recognized as a Legal Elite Notable – Managing Partner by Florida Trend magazine for the second consecutive year.
Florida Trend editors selected Mr. Hawkins for recognition as one of only 109 managing partners of leading law firms statewide among scores of nominations. To qualify for this list, attorneys were vetted against specific criteria: must have made a significant impact in their field; mentored other attorneys; promoted inclusive practices in the workplace; and demonstrated leadership in professional organizations and civic/community service initiatives. Mr. Hawkins was also selected for inclusion in the magazine’s 2023 inaugural special section.
Mr. Hawkins has held various leadership roles throughout his nearly 40-year career that have impacted both the local legal and business communities. He has served as a past president of The Florida Bar, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, and its Young Lawyers Section; past director of The Florida Bar Foundation; and past chair of the Search Committee for the current Executive Director of The Florida Bar. Mr. Hawkins is also actively involved in the Economic Council of Palm Beach County where he is a member of its Board of Directors and a member at large of its Executive Committee. He is currently chair of the Council’s Political Action Committee and is a past chair of the Governance Committee and Policy Committee. Highly respected among his colleagues, Mr. Hawkins is consistently recognized by peer-reviewed publications such as The Best Lawyers in America, Florida Super Lawyers, and Palm Beach Illustrated’s “Top Lawyers” lists.
A Florida Bar Board Certified Business Litigation attorney, Mr. Hawkins represents public and private companies in a variety of industries, including technology, medical, environmental, real estate, land use, insurance, and military. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis on intellectual property, trade secret disputes, trademark infringement, covenants not to compete, securities, real estate litigation, and claims arising under ERISA Plans. Mr. Hawkins regularly serves as attorneys’ fees counsel and as an expert witness and has been appointed by the courts as a receiver, trustee, statutory investigator (corporate derivative disputes), mediator, and special master given his experience, ethics, and judgment.
