Jones Foster, a 100-year-old commercial and private client law firm with offices in West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, and Jupiter, Florida, is pleased to announce that trust and estate litigation attorney Matthew L. Worsham, LL.M., has been appointed chair of the Martin County Bar Association’s Judicial Relations Committee and reappointed chair of the Wills, Trusts & Estates/Probate Committee for the 2024-2025 term.
In his new leadership role as chair of the Judicial Relations Committee, Matthew will coordinate monthly CLE lunch and learn seminars with judges from the 19th Judicial Circuit and district court as an opportunity to connect members of the bar and bench in Martin County. He also will interview and profile each judicial guest speaker to provide bar members additional insight into their background and journey to the bench.
The first event was held on Sept. 11 and featured Judge Jennifer Alcorta Waters, who discussed procedural tips and tricks for practitioners, pet peeves, and effective advocacy from a judicial perspective. Matthew is also involved in the MCBA’s Judicial Reception, which takes place in October.
As chair of the Wills, Trusts & Estates/ Probate Committee, Matthew will continue to conduct meetings focused on issues impacting estate planning and probate law; develop educational and networking events; submit thought leadership for distribution in the MCBA SideBar monthly newsletter; and increase the engagement of members through events, social media, and the MCBA online community. He previously served as co-chair of the MCBA’s Young Lawyers Division.
Committees provide an opportunity for members to connect through common experiences and interests and are intended to provide additional avenues for member engagement through networking and CLEs on a more intimate but focused level, according to the MCBA.
Matthew Worsham is a member of Jones Foster's Trust and Estate Litigation and Private Wealth, Trusts & Estates practice groups and focuses his practice in the areas of probate, guardianship, trust litigation, and trust and estate administration. He represents individual beneficiaries, heirs, fiduciaries, and corporate fiduciaries in probate, guardianship, and trust-related matters, including will and trust contests, trustee/personal representative removal actions, accounting actions, will and trust reformation and modification matters, and elective share cases.
In addition to the MCBA, Matthew is actively involved in The Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Section. He graduated with a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and holds an LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami School of Law.
