Jones Foster is proud to have served as a sponsor of the annual Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation Benefit Golf Tournament held at Palm Beach National Country Club.
The tournament’s proceeds will support the Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation’s various community service activities. Jones Foster Shareholder William G. Smith, who is serving his second term as president of the Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation, hosted the firm-sponsored Putting Contest.
The Kiwanis Club of West Palm Beach Foundation is committed to academic excellence and offers one of the largest scholarship programs in Florida, awarding more than $200,000 each year. Scholarship grants are given to deserving students on a need basis following an extensive screening process. Award recipients are attending 25 colleges and universities throughout the country. In addition, the organization sponsors leadership programs for students such as Key Club and Circle K International (CKI).
Bill Smith is a member of the Private Wealth, Trusts & Estates and Corporate & Tax teams and concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, transactional corporate law, and taxation, which includes advanced transfer tax planning. Bill works with individual clients and families to create a customized plan for the current or future transfer of assets to minimize federal gift taxes, estate taxes, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxes. He also provides counsel to businesses, private foundations, and charities in matters that include business succession planning, transfers of business interests, LLC and S corporation creation, governance documents, mergers, and Treasury Regulation compliance.
Bill serves in leadership roles in several community and industry organizations. He is a past president of the East Coast Estate Planning Council, a Session member in the Memorial Presbyterian Church in West Palm Beach, and is a member of The Planned Giving Council of Palm Beach County.
