Jones Foster Attorneys Speak at Florida Bar 2023 Probate Law Seminar

Jones Foster Trusts and Estates Litigation shareholders Peter A. Sachs and Theodore S. Kypreos recently participated in the 2023 Probate Law Seminar hosted by The Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Law (RPPTL) Section and its Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort.

Peter Sachs, a Florida Bar Board Certified Business Litigation and Civil Trial attorney, was one of several key speakers at the annual program, which gathered new and experienced probate practitioners from across the state to discuss a wide range of estate planning and probate administration material.

Peter’s presentation “The Recent Rulings That Every Probate Practitioner Needs to Know” discussed recent case law updates in Florida relating to estate and trust litigation, creditor claims, construction of marital agreements, intestate heirs, will construction, holographic wills, joint assets, and attorneys’ fees and sanctions.

Peter is an active member of The Florida Bar and previously served as chair of its Civil Procedure Rules Committee and Probate Rules Committee. He often shares his extensive knowledge in probate law through speaking engagements on the topics of will, guardianship, and trust contests; the parol evidence rule; removal to Federal Court; and pre-judgment remedies, among other topics.

Theo Kypreos, who is chair of RPPTL’s Probate Law and Procedure Committee, gave opening remarks and moderated the event in his role as program co-chair. Theo is actively involved in The Florida Bar’s RPPTL Section and is a longtime member of the Executive Council. He frequently lectures at RPPTL events on topics related to probate, trust, and guardianship law, and has authored several articles for its ActionLine Newsletter.
