David Bowers, Corporate & Tax Practice Group Leader, was a featured speaker at the Firm-sponsored Florida Tax Institute conference, held in Tampa, Florida. The three-day conference is geared to attorneys, accountants, trust officers, insurance and financial planners, and planned giving professionals, with renowned speakers and panelists discussing current business and individual taxation and estate planning issues. The annual event is organized by graduates and professors of the University of Florida Levin College of Law.
David’s presentation, entitled ‘How Safe is Your Retirement (Estate) Planning After the SECURE Act?’ discussed the recent legislation, its impact on estate planning for retirement benefits, and how practitioners can best advise clients about changing their existing estate plans.
David has over thirty years of experience in complex tax, trusts and estates, and business planning, and he is a Florida Bar Board Certified specialist in Tax. He has extensive experience in estate planning, pension and profit-sharing plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and business transactions.
David has served as a Florida Tax Institute Operating Board member since 2014 and is actively involved in a number of industry organizations. He was awarded the Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Florida Tax Attorney of the Year Award in 2016 by The Florida Bar in recognition of his major contributions to the advancement of the practice of tax law.
