Erica Haft is a member of both the Private Wealth, Trusts & Estates team and Corporate & Tax team at Jones Foster, and concentrates her practice on tax-oriented estate planning, business succession planning, estate and trust administration, and transactional corporate law.
Erica works with clients to create customized plans to minimize federal gift taxes, estate taxes, and generation-skipping transfer (GST) taxes and provides counsel to individuals and businesses relocating to Florida to maximize the state’s tax benefits. In addition to will and trust preparation, she prepares advance directives and powers of attorney.
Erica also regularly works with business owners to help organize and relocate entities, such as limited liability companies and S-corporations. She prepares the governance documents and all state filings needed to organize, merge, convert or terminate entities.
Erica earned her Master of Laws in Estate Planning (LL.M.) from the University of Miami School of Law, where she graduated at the top of her class and received the Book Award in Probate. She earned her law degree (J.D.) with cum laude honors from the University of Miami School of Law and received Book Awards in Contracts, Advanced Appellate Advocacy, and Legal Research. Erica also completed her undergraduate degree (B.A.) with Dean’s List distinction in Political Science from Northwestern University.
During law school, Erica was actively involved in the Moot Court organization and was selected to represent the school in the American Bar Association’s national level competition. She also clerked for the Honorable Stanford Blake in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida and served as a research intern for the Wrongful Convictions Legal Clinic at the Northwestern University School of Law.
