American Bar Association’s Technology Subcommittees Reappoint Robert W. Wilkins as Co-Chair

Jones Foster Litigation Shareholder and Practice Group Leader, Rob Wilkins, has been reappointed as Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Data Breach and Internet Subcommittee and the E-Discovery Subcommittee, both part of the Commercial and Business Litigation Committee (CBL).

The CBL focuses on issues facing litigators with broad commercial practices, including substantive areas such as bankruptcy, creditor rights, professional liability, and trade secret law, and procedural matters such as e-discovery, privilege, ADR, and international litigation, while the CBL Subcommittees cover a broad range of substantive and procedural areas and provide content for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs.

Rob’s leadership roles on technology-related committees give him insight into some of the most important and timely issues concerning the use and evolution of technology and its legal implications. He has authored several articles in 2020 in which he highlights critical considerations and shares recommendations concerning e-discovery, popular technology platforms such as Zoom, and messaging apps.

With over 35 years’ experience as a trial lawyer, Rob represents and counsels clients in complex business litigation matters, including e-discovery and data privacy issues, construction litigation, shareholder and partnership disputes, employment and non-compete matters, civil RICO, securities, and commercial real estate landlord/tenant matters. He is experienced in defending actions seeking certification of nationwide and statewide classes and has served as Co-Counsel in defense of a multidistrict litigation matter with potential damages in excess of $100 million.

Rob is currently a member of The Sedona Conference Working Group 1, Electronic Document Retention and Production, and Working Group 11, Data Security and Privacy Liability. He previously served as Chair of the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s (PBCBA) Technology Law Committee; Chair of The Florida Bar’s Business Litigation Certification Committee; and Vice-Chair of The Florida Bar’s Legal Specialization and Education Committee.
