Jones Foster Sponsors Annual Florida Tax Institute

Jones Foster served as a sponsor of the 2022 Florida Tax Institute, a three-day conference that was held in Tampa, Florida with over 300 attorneys, accountants, trust officers, insurance and financial planners, and planned giving professionals in attendance. The event brings professionals from across the United States together to learn from renowned speakers and panelists and to network with other tax professionals.

The Florida Tax Institute is sponsored by the Florida Tax Education Foundation, Inc.. The annual event is organized by graduates and professors of the University of Florida Levin College of Law, with proceeds benefitting the University of Florida Levin College of Law Graduate Tax Program.

Some of the topics discussed this year included developments in federal taxation, tax planning for foreign investment in the U.S., trending topics in estate planning, grantor trusts, and how digital assets will reshape the future of money globally, in addition to a presentation by IRS Commissioner Charles P. Rettig.

David E. Bowers, Jones Foster Corporate & Tax and Private Wealth Practice Group Leader, delivered the opening remarks at the conference. He is Chair of the Florida Tax Institute operating board and has served as a board member since 2014.

David, a Florida Bar Board Certified specialist in Tax, has over thirty years of experience in complex tax, trusts and estates, and business planning with extensive experience in estate planning, pension, and profit-sharing plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and business transactions. He is actively involved with The Florida Bar Tax Section and the Palm Beach County Estate Planning Council. He was awarded the Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Florida Tax Attorney of the Year Award in 2016 by The Florida Bar in recognition of his major contributions to the advancement of the practice of tax law.
