Joanne M. O’Connor, Speaker at The Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section Event

Litigation Shareholder Joanne O’Connor was a featured speaker at The Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section’s Civil Trial Update & Board Certification CLE course.

Her presentation, entitled ‘Recent Developments in Business Litigation’, discussed topics including; The Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practice Act (FDUTPA); the rise of the independent tort doctrine; proposals for settlement; and new developments in arbitration.

The Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar provides a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas leading to the improvement of individual trial ability. The essential purposes of the Trial Lawyers Section are threefold: to assist the courts in improving the administration of justice; to promote the art of advocacy; to preserve and protect the jury system.

Joanne O’Connor is a Florida Bar Board Certified specialist in Business Litigation who focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation including business torts, partnership and corporate disputes, non-compete agreements, civil RICO, real estate and land use litigation, and lawyer and law firm defense. Joanne currently serves as President of the Federal Bar Association Palm Beach Chapter, and as a member of The Florida Bar’s Federal Court Practice Committee and Business Litigation Certification Committee.
