Jones Foster Sponsors Annual Florida Tax Institute Conference

Jones Foster served as a sponsor of the annual Florida Tax Institute conference, held virtually for an audience of nearly 400.

The three-day conference is geared to attorneys, accountants, trust officers, insurance and financial planners, and planned giving professionals, and features renowned speakers and panelists from corporations, law firms, and academic institutions. Topics included developments in state, local, and federal taxation, partnership and real estate debt workouts, transfer taxes, partnership taxation, use of business trusts, and more. The annual event is organized by graduates and professors of the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

David E. Bowers, practice group leader for the Firm’s Corporate & Tax and Private Wealth practice groups, delivered the opening and closing remarks at the conference. He has served as a Florida Tax Institute operating board member since 2014. David, a Florida Bar Board Certified specialist in Tax, has over thirty years of experience in complex tax, trusts and estates, and business planning with extensive experience in estate planning, pension, and profit-sharing plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and business transactions. He is actively involved with The Florida Bar Tax Section and the Palm Beach County Estate Planning Council. He was awarded the Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Florida Tax Attorney of the Year Award in 2016 by The Florida Bar in recognition of his major contributions to the advancement of the practice of tax law.
