David E. Bowers, Corporate & Tax Practice Group Leader, was a featured guest on The Florida Bar Tax Section’s Hall of Champions Interview Series podcast. The purpose of the interview series is to “record and preserve the wisdom of lawyers like David who have meant so much to the development of tax law and policy in the State of Florida”, offering Tax Section members the opportunity to learn from leaders in the field.
In the hour-long interview, David discusses his distinguished legal career and why the complexity and ever-evolving nature of tax law fuel his curiosity. He goes on to share personal anecdotes about formative experiences, professional opportunities, and advice that helped him define and grow his practice.
David is a Florida Bar Board Certified specialist in Tax with over thirty years of experience in complex tax, trusts and estates, and business planning with extensive experience in estate planning, pension and profit-sharing plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, and business transactions. He approaches corporate and taxation law as a long-term, relationship-based practice that encompasses the business, the family, and the individual through many life stages, with the perpetual goal of preserving assets.
David brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership ability to his role as a Florida Tax Institute board member and as chair of the University of Florida Law Center Association’s Alumni Tax Advisory Committee. He served as past chair of The Florida Bar Tax Section, the Palm Beach Tax Institute, and The Florida Bar Tax Law Certification Committee.
Consistently selected by his peers for recognition in his field, David is ranked in Best Lawyers in America and Florida Super Lawyers publications and was the recipient of the 2016 Gerald T. Hart Outstanding Florida Tax Attorney of the Year Award by The Florida Bar in honor of his major contributions to the advancement of the practice of tax law.
