Jones Foster Shareholder Alan J. Ciklin Appointed Co-Chair of Land Use and Governmental Practice Group

Jones Foster, a 100-year-old commercial and private client law firm based in West Palm Beach, Florida, is pleased to announce that Shareholder Alan J. Ciklin has been appointed co-chair of the Land Use & Governmental Practice Group.

As co-chair, Mr. Ciklin will lead the firm’s Land Use team with Shareholder Thomas J. Baird, a Florida Bar Board Certified City, County and Local Government attorney. Mr. Ciklin, who is also a member of the firm’s Real Estate Practice Group, has decades of experience representing commercial and residential developers, corporations, office and industrial park clients, and residential buyers and sellers in complex land use and zoning matters and sophisticated real estate transactions. His comprehensive knowledge of real estate, land use and zoning, and local municipalities benefits his clients throughout the process of financing, acquisition, comprehensive planning, and full-scale development of commercial properties and planned unit developments.

In addition, Mr. Ciklin handles a wide range of legal issues involving zoning, code enforcement, and permitting, and represents his clients before governmental boards and at administrative agency hearings. Early in his career, he served as an Assistant County Attorney and Deputy County Attorney for Palm Beach County. As Director of the Palm Beach County Planning, Zoning, and Building Department, he was instrumental in the development of the county’s land use and zoning codes and its Comprehensive Plan. He earned his J.D. degree from Ohio Northern University’s Claude W. Pettit College of Law.

Mr. Ciklin is consistently selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and Palm Beach Illustrated’s “Top Lawyers" lists for real estate and is a recipient of Legal Aid Society’s Pro Bono Award.
