Litigation Shareholder Grasford Smith has been appointed as President-Elect of the Virgil Hawkins Florida Chapter National Bar Association (VHFCNBA) for a one-year term. Grasford was inducted at the Legacy Gala on June 16, 2018 in Orlando, Florida during the Florida Bar Convention.
The VHFCNBA began in the 1950s and has been the catalyst for the establishment of local, affiliate Black bar associations throughout Florida. It is a state affiliate chapter of the National Bar Association and consists of a network of nearly 1,000 attorneys statewide. VHFCNBA established a Fellowship Program to further efforts to advocate on behalf of Florida’s underserved communities and supports a scholarship/loan fund to aid law students and recent graduates.
Grasford’s additional community and industry involvement is widespread. He currently serves as a Board Member of the Palm Beach County Bar Association, Vice-Chair of the National Bar Association Minority Partners in Majority Law Firms Division, General Counsel of the Urban League of Palm Beach County, Emerging Leaders member of the Economic Counsel of Palm Beach County, Board Member of Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County, and on the NYU LACA Advisory Board.
